Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how RentGo Split (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit or use our website rentgosplit.com (the “Website”) and the car rental services we promote under the concept “Car Rental Split Airport No Credit Card” in cooperation with local partners.

1. Who We Are

RentGo Split is a local-focused car rental intermediary based in Croatia. We do not own vehicles ourselves; instead, we work with independent local car rental companies operating in Split, Split Airport (SPU) and surrounding areas. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent and lawful way.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and (optionally) home address when you submit an enquiry or booking request.
  • Booking details: rental dates, vehicle category, pickup and drop-off location, flight information (if provided for airport pickup), accommodation address for delivery and any extras requested (e.g. child seats).
  • Communication data: information you share with us via email, contact forms or messaging apps (for example, clarifications about arrival time, questions about conditions, or route preferences).
  • Website usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages and referring URLs, collected via cookies and similar technologies for analytics and security.

In general, driverโ€™s licence and ID/passport details are collected and processed directly by the local car rental provider at pickup, in accordance with Croatian law and their own policies. We usually do not store copies of these documents ourselves unless strictly necessary (for example, in case of a dispute or support request).

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To process enquiries and booking requests: handling your request, checking availability, forwarding details to local partners and sending you confirmations or follow-up information.
  • To communicate with you: answering questions, providing practical information about pickup, delivery, payment, or changes to your booking.
  • To share necessary details with local partners: providing the local car rental company with your booking data so they can prepare the vehicle, draft the rental agreement and provide the service.
  • To operate and improve the Website: analysing aggregated usage data to improve content, navigation, performance and security.
  • To comply with legal obligations: where required by applicable laws, including accounting, tax and consumer protection rules.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Where EU/EEA data protection rules (including the GDPR) apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract and pre-contractual steps: processing necessary to handle your booking request and connect you with a local provider.
  • Legitimate interests: improving our services, preventing abuse, ensuring security and maintaining business operations in a way that does not override your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligations: processing required by applicable laws (e.g. accounting and record-keeping).
  • Consent: in cases where you explicitly consent to certain processing (for example, specific types of optional marketing communication).

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data only with the following categories of recipients, where necessary:

  • Local car rental partners: independent companies in Croatia that provide the vehicle and rental service. They receive necessary booking details (name, contact information, rental dates, vehicle type, pickup/drop-off details) in order to perform the rental contract with you.
  • IT, hosting and infrastructure providers: third parties who host the Website, provide email services or maintain technical systems, under confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Professional advisers: such as lawyers or accountants, where reasonably necessary for legal, compliance or accounting purposes.
  • Public authorities: where required by law, court order or law-enforcement request, or to protect our rights or the rights of others.

Once your data is passed to a local car rental provider, they act as a separate data controller for the rental contract. Their own privacy policy and rental conditions will apply in addition to this Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies and Analytics

Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • ensure basic site functionality and security,
  • remember basic preferences (such as language, if applicable),
  • analyse traffic, usage patterns and improve the user experience.

Some cookies are essential for the Website to function correctly, while others are used only for analytics or performance. You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. If you disable certain cookies, parts of the Website may not work as intended.

7. Data Storage and Retention

We store your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including:

  • to process bookings and provide related customer support,
  • to comply with legal, tax or accounting obligations,
  • to resolve disputes and enforce agreements within a reasonable period.

The exact retention period may differ depending on the type of data, the context of your interaction with us and legal requirements in Croatia or other relevant jurisdictions.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. These measures may include secure servers, access controls, encryption where appropriate and limiting access to personal data to authorised personnel only.

However, no online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed 100% secure. You use the Website and share information at your own risk.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence and applicable data protection laws (including the GDPR for EU/EEA residents), you may have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access: to request information about the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure: to request deletion of your data in certain circumstances (for example, when data is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected), subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to restrict processing: to request that we limit processing of your data in certain situations.
  • Right to object: to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, where applicable.
  • Right to data portability: to receive certain data you have provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller, where technically feasible and applicable.
  • Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time (this does not affect processing prior to withdrawal).

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details in the Contact Us section below. We may ask you to provide proof of identity before responding to your request.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular in the EU/EEA country where you live, work or believe a violation has occurred.

10. Third-Party Links

Our Website may contain links to external websites, booking tools or resources (for example, local partners, travel information or comparison services). We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or security of such third-party sites. We recommend that you review their privacy policies before providing any personal data.

11. International Data Transfers

As an online service, information may be stored or processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we will take appropriate steps to ensure an adequate level of protection in accordance with applicable data protection laws (for example, by using standard contractual clauses, where relevant).

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal obligations or how we handle personal data. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date at the top.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we process and protect your data.
